How we get you back to feeling your best

Mobilisation

Joint mobilisation is used frequently to help restore full and correct movement of the joint. This is a gentle approach and can be used on peripheral joints, as well as the spine.

Manipulation

This technique can be effective for neck, upper and lower back conditions. Manipulation is a specialist treatment and is only performed by our postgraduate-trained Physiotherapists.

Stretching & Mobility

Ensuring muscles are at optimal length, and joints have full range of motion will help reduce pain and prevent injury. We can show you how to stretch to increase range in short muscles and use foam rollers and trigger point balls for self-massage techniques.

Pelvic Health

Pelvic health issues can affect men and women at all stages in life. We provide a holistic approach to Pelvic Health in a safe and comfortable environment and tailor our treatment to both men and women. Learn more here.

Dry Needling

Dry needling is effective in reducing muscle pain and tightness, and increasing muscle length and activation. This is a specialised technique only used by trained Physiotherapists to treat overuse injuries, sporting injuries, and a variety of headache and back related pain.

Massage

Depending on the injury and treatment required this may be gentle effleurage, or working deeper into the tissue.  Along with other techniques, this can be helpful to increase circulation, reduce pain and address tight muscles.

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave Therapy helps to increase blood flow to an area, break down scar tissue, and help to desensitise the nervous system and modulate pain. It involves applying low-energy shockwaves to the area of damaged tissue, and the treatment takes only minutes. Learn more here.

Strapping

Strapping can help posture, reduce pain and prevent injuries. We have Physiotherapists trained specifically in using Rocktape, which is a non-rigid taping that can help improve mobility as well as reduce muscular, myofascial, and neural pain. Sports-specific strapping can be provided.

Education

Understanding your injury is important in being able to manage your rehabilitation. Our Physiotherapists ensure that you will understand your management plan, the treatments that will be involved and education regarding injury prevention.

Rehab & Prehab Programmes

People often have their pain addressed with treatment, but it is important to ensure that the muscles around the area involved are restored to their full function to prevent re-injury. We provide pre and post-operative rehab in conjunction with surgical protocols.

Muscle Balance Assessment

A muscle balance assessment can identify areas that need to be addressed. Children or young athletes, and people who are looking at entering long distance or endurance events can benefit from identifying these issues even before they become a problem. Learn about our VALD Performance Systems here.

Posture & Alignment Analysis

We live in a society where a lot of our work and daily activities involve sitting or repetitive movements.  Our Physiotherapists look at your posture and alignment, and the impact that this may have on your injury or pain.  We then offer advice on how to improve both posture and work set-up.

Lifestyle Physiotherapy is a registered health provider with ACC

You do not need a referral to be treated at our clinics.  We are able to provide you with the forms and lodge your ACC claim from our clinic on your first visit. If you do have a referral form from your GP, please bring this with you.  If ACC does not accept your claim, you will be charged for the full cost of treatment.  Our receptionists will help if you have any concerns regarding this.

We specialise in Sports Physiotherapy

Whether you consider yourself a weekend warrior, an aspiring athlete, or compete at an elite level, we have everything you need to perform at your best.

We have Physiotherapists who specialise in Sports Physiotherapy and are passionate about helping athletes. They look further than just the rehabilitation phase, and focus on injury prevention and reducing injury risk factors.

We have an on-site gym and state-of-the-art testing equipment that provides instant feedback and to track progress. The VALD DYNAMO and ForceDecks give us accurate measures of strength and range of motion, and allow us to assess limb symmetry, jump height, force and power output, landing forces and so much more. We are your one-stop shop for everything sports!

Pre and post-operative rehabilitation

People often focus on post-operative rehabilitation, but being as strong and fit as you can before your operation will help in your overall recovery. We can guide you through appropriate pre-operative rehabilitation that is specific to your injury and the procedure you will have, and then provide you with all of the care from day one following your surgery. Often some of the most important keys to a successful recovery is knowing what to do and what not to do in the early stages – we provide education, guidance through returning to daily activities, and then help you work through regaining range of motion and strength and progressing your rehabilitation plan to achieve your goals.

No extra gym memberships!

We have a gym on-site which allows our Physiotherapists to guide you through your rehabilitation programme. The gym has a variety of equipment including leg press, free and machine weights, Pilates reformer, treadmill, and stationary bike, so we can cater to all needs and abilities.

We go one step further

We focus on injury prevention as well as treatment, allowing you to enjoy your day-to-day living. We can help you get the most out of your lifestyle, whether it be work, playing with grandchildren, social sport, or achieving as an elite-level athlete.
