ABOUT EMA
My name is Ema Pene. My family has always been heavily involved in swimming and basketball, and I competed in both to an international level. I chose physiotherapy as a career because it gave me the opportunity to continue my involvement with sports.
I grew up in Rotorua and moved to Auckland to study at AUT. I worked in private practice in Auckland for a few years after graduating, and initially moved to Hamilton in 2013 to work with Lifestyle Physiotherapy. I relocated back to Auckland for another 2 years in 2015 to be able to work with the Black Ferns, before coming back to the Waikato in 2017.
I love the variety of expertise everyone has to offer at Lifestyle Physiotherapy, and the opportunities it has afforded me. I’m still heavily involved in rugby, and have been a physio with the New Zealand Black Ferns, Waikato Women’s Sevens, New Zealand Sevens Development and, most recently, with the Waikato Mens NPC and Chiefs Superrugby sides.
Outside of work, I am a Mama and am a huge Harry Potter nerd!
