Pelvic Health

Pelvic Health

Pelvic health issues can affect men and women at all stages in life, and people often put up with pain and discomfort without realising there is help available. These issues can affect people physically but often have emotional, psychological, and social implications.

We provide a holistic approach in a safe and comfortable environment and tailor our treatment to the individual.

What We Treat

We have a qualified Physiotherapist on site to assess and treat a range of Pelvic Health conditions:

  • Pelvic pain

  • Pregnancy & post-natal problems

  • Pelvic floor dysfunction

  • Pelvic organ prolapse

  • Bladder and bowel issues

  • Maternal Birth Injuries & more…

What does a consultation involve?

Your initial consultation will involve the physiotherapist asking questions of a personal nature. This is to ensure they have all of the necessary information to make a diagnosis, and formulate an individualised treatment plan. You have the right to decline to answer any questions.

To allow your therapist to make the best diagnosis and treatment plan, you may be asked to consent to a physical examination. This may involve observation and an internal examination or palpation of the perineal region. This is optional and you are able to consent or decline any form of physical assessment, at any time.

Do I have to have an internal examination?

For a number of pelvic floor conditions, this is the best way to assess any damage and function of the area. Our physiotherapists are specially trained, however there is no pressure for you to have an internal examination. You will always be asked for consent prior to any assessment.

Do I need a referral?

You don't need a referral, however, where possible we will communicate with other health providers that are involved in your care.

Costs and ACC

What does it cost? Private Initial consultation $120; Follow up $70; ACC covered claim $35

Will ACC cover my costs? As of October 1st ACC will be covering a lot more of the common maternal birth injuries. This means many more women will be able to get the help they need to recover after childbirth. For more information click here.
